Stomach grumbling at an ungodly hour? Coming from a late night drinking binge? We scoured the city to look for the best bites after the clock strikes 12.
Nihonbashi Tei‘s Ankake Ramen (P280) may be the best way to sober up and warm a weary soul after a late night out. This seafood ramen is so deliciously hot and satisfying that it can wake anybody out of his drunken stupor. This super-sized bowl has a myriad of ingredients that make this very tasty soup fun to eat. Imagine generous portions of sliced squid, shrimps, fishcakes, assorted mushrooms, vegetables, pork bits, hard-boiled quail eggs intertwined with thin ramen noodles to satisfy your late night hunger pangs. Looking for more than ramen? Try the yakitori skewers or seasonal sashimi. Why not match it with a cold Japanese beer or sake to end the night with a bang? – Angeli

If you’re craving for that chewy-crisp, gooey-cheesy experience, there’s no other place to go for a late-night craving of pizza than Nolita’s over at BGC. I don’t know why but I definitely prefer the taste and texture of a New York Italian style pizza over the Italian kind from Italy. What I love about Nolita is that they have more exciting flavor combinations such as Buffalo Chicken with Blue Cheese, Wild Mushroom Ricotta, Spinach and Artichoke, Steak and Eggs, and the Pesto Grilled Chicken with Sun-dried Tomato (P120-P290/slice). There’s really no need for any add-ons, but in case you want some extra zing, there’s hot sauce, chili flakes or Parmesan cheese on the table. At Nolita, they encourage you to eat pizza with your hands—not with a fork and knife! That’s the New York way. If you’re dining with someone, I suggest you order one flavor each and have the slices split in half. That way, both of you get to try the other flavor too.
Aside from their great pizzas, there are other items on the menu like burgers, Stovetop Mac and Cheese (P310) and Honey Garlic Buffalo Wings (P350) that you might want to try if you’re extra hungry. But honestly, the pizzas are usually more than enough. – Nina

My ultimate favorite at 8 Cuts is their Four Cheese Burger (P245) with cheddar, Monterey Jack, and a crispy, breaded slice of mozzarella and Parmesan. It’s what I would call the ultimate cheeseburger that gets better and better with every bite. For me, this hits the spot whenever I’m in the mood for a burger because it’s unlike any other cheeseburger I’ve tried. I also got to try the Bacon Shroom (P245), a limited edition flavor, that would be perfect for bacon lovers.
I love how 8 Cuts takes their burger business seriously—with the patties made up of blended beef cuts of sirloin, chuck, short rib, flank, ox tail, etc. It’s not just a generic patty for all the burgers here. Each blend is different and there are some amazing burger-topping-bread combinations here that are sure to win you over. 8 Cuts Greenbelt and Salcedo branches are open until 1AM to satisfy those carnivorous late night cravings. – Nina

Popular among foreigners and locals alike, it isn’t difficult to understand why El Chupacabra is a favorite after-drinking place of the party-goers in the Makati area. My friends and I usually get an order of the Carne Asada Burrito, which comes with tortilla chips and fresh salsa. You may choose the burrito according to its size: Mission-Style (P207) or the San Diego (P297). It contains a hefty serving of Mexican rice, melted cheese, crunchy vegetables, and freshly-grilled chopped steak, all packed inside the burrito. Their Carnitas Street Taco (P105) is also noteworthy. It’s an open-faced soft shell taco that holds Mexican-style roast pork chunks, onions, and lots of cilantro. Don’t forget to squeeze the calamansi on top to provide the tang that brings all the flavors together. Their Agua Frescas (P88) are also worth a try. Pair your meals with the Watermelon Agua Fresca—a very refreshing drink that brings out the natural sweetness of the watermelon. – Yllaine

I love how Mister Kabab is open for my after-party cravings. My favorite is Mister Kabab’s Shawarma Sandwich (P100)—those charred beef chunks with fresh tomatoes and onions all wrapped in a toasted pita and served with garlic yogurt and spicy chili sauces. This is what I usually look for after a night out with friends. If you’re hungry and want something heavier, give their Lamb Biryani (P260) a try. Easily good for two, this tender, succulent lamb that has been braised for hours in a mildly spicy curry sauce is served with a generous serving of turmeric rice. Don’t forget to order a glass of Yoghurt Shake (P70) to mellow out the heat. Did I mention that they also make their own Baklava (P90/2 pcs)? – Yllaine

If you’re craving some sweets and want a sugar rush at night, head over to Borough and order their Mom’s Milk and Cookies (P220). These chewy, bite-sized delights come in three cookie flavors (oatmeal cranberry, white chocolate chip, and gingerbread), with just the right amount of chewiness and melt-in-your-mouth goodness. The Gingerbread cookie has a modest kick of ginger that’s not too overpowering. The Oatmeal Cranberry, on the other hand, is not too sweet, and has an interesting chewy yet crispy texture. Add the hint of spice coming from the cinnamon and you’re in for a treat. Though already creamy and addicting, the White Chocolate cookies, my favorite of the bunch, are even better paired with milk. No one will be able to resist the urge to dunk their cookies in the house blend milk. Served ice cold along with the cookies, this combination of fresh milk and vanilla ice cream makes the best partner for the warm, fresh-from-the-oven cookies. – Regine
