Don’t just stick to desserts when it comes to maximizing the flavors of your queso de bola. Use it to add some cheesy salted-nuttiness into your food! For this recipe, we used it together with ham to make these bite-sized treats.
HAM AND QUESO DE BOLA POPOVERS
Makes 16 pieces
1 cup Fresh milk
3 Tbsps Unsalted butter, melted
1 cup All-purpose flour
1 tsp Salt
¾ cup Diced ham
¼ cup Grated queso de bola
¼ cup Grated Parmesan cheese
1 Tbsp Fresh thyme, minced
Cayenne pepper, for dusting
- Preheat oven to 425°F. In a medium bowl, first whisk together eggs, milk, and melted butter. Add in flour and salt and fold in the ham, queso de bola, Parmesan cheese, and thyme until evenly incorporated. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Put a muffin pan in the middle rack in the oven to warm for 10 minutes.
- Carefully remove muffin pan from the oven and pour the batter into the cups of the hot tin, filling each well three-fourths to the top. Dust filling with cayenne pepper. Bake the popovers for about 18-20 minutes or until crisp and golden. Serve warm.
