For the past couple of months, it has been long teased that New York City’s Magnolia Bakery would be setting up shop in Manila. Their Facebook and Instagram accounts have been counting down the days till they open, causing all sorts of buzz online. If you’re antsy for your next sugar rush, we were lucky enough to get a special taste of what Magnolia Bakery or M Bakery in the Philippines has in store before it officially does in two weeks.
Over the past 20 years since its establishment, Magnolia Bakery has evolved from a good old-fashioned neighborhood corner bakery into an international phenomenon. The New York City institution is cherished for its vintage décor, warm atmosphere, outstanding customer service, and, undoubtedly, its classic baked goods the world over—from Bleecker Street in the West Village and, now, at the very heart of the vibrant Bonifacio Global City.
As you enter M Bakery, you’re greeted by its iconic mint green and cream color scheme along with the smell of baked treats. Laid out on a black-and-white hexagon-tiled floor, all its interiors are topped with something sweet to set your sights on, matching the delectable scent that fills the air from the freshly baked goods made on-site.
The local branch will be serving Magnolia favorites from the bakery’s 200 and more original recipes. Their popular cupcakes and cakes are sure mainstays while icebox desserts, cheesecakes, and seasonal pies will be rotated daily so customers can expect something different with every visit. Their famous banana pudding is definitely a standout while Philippine-exclusive twists like the Calamansi Cheesecake (instead of key lime) sets our standards high for other reinvented desserts!
Do you think the wait will be worth it? Take it from us, we loved everything and we’re excited to find out what else they’ll be whipping up!
Here’s an insider tip: Don’t forget to line up early because the first 100 visitors on opening day get special Banana Pudding freebies! The first five who spend a minimum of Php 500 will be getting one (1) large Banana Pudding every month for a year, while the other 95 will get a small-sized container on the day of opening.
M Bakery opens on August 22, 2pm, at the lower ground floor of One Bonifacio High Street Mall (across Mind Museum) in Bonifacio Global City
