Spiced meatballs perfectly paired with a tangy garlic-yogurt dip!
Kofta Meatballs with Garlic-Yogurt Dip
Makes 5-6 servings
1/2 kilo Lean ground lamb or beef
1/2 cup Breadcrumbs
1 Egg, lightly beaten
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Freshly cracked black pepper
1 tsp Ground cumin
1/2 tsp Allspice
3 cloves Garlic, finely minced
2 tsps Finely chopped fresh mint
2 Tbsps Finely chopped fresh parsley
2 Tbsps Butter
1 Tbsp Olive oil
- Mix the ground meat, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, salt, pepper, cumin, allspice, garlic, mint, and parsley in a large bowl.
- Using your hands, form the mixture into small logs.
- Melt two tablespoons of butter with olive oil in a skillet and fry the meatballs in batches until golden brown on all sides. Serve with the chilled garlic-yogurt dip, pita bread, and your favorite hot sauce.
1 clove Garlic, mashed to a paste
1 cup Plain yogurt
1 Tbsp Lemon juice
*Salt and pepper, to season
- Mix together all the ingredients until well-blended and chill for at least one hour before serving.
