Lechon lovers get ready! Cebu’s pride, Rico’s Lechon, is now in Manila!
On August 3, Rico’s Lechon will officially open its first branch located at the Fort Strip in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. The sprawling 180-seater restaurant includes a second level function space as well as an indoor Roasting Pit where customers can actually view firsthand how the pigs are roasted.
For almost 20 years, Rico’s Lechon has been delighting its customers with their whole-roasted pigs. Founded by Enrico “Rico” Dionson, the brand got its start in Lapu-Lapu City as a humble way for Rico to support his family. Through hard work and word of mouth marketing, his lechon business eventually succeeded with orders even reaching outside the island of Cebu.
Rico’s roasted pigs are known for its succulent and juicy meat flavored by heady aromatics and herbs as well as the super crispy lechon skin, which, to our honest opinion, is worth fighting over. The best thing about Rico’s lechon, however, is the option to have it original or spicy. Whichever the preference though, it should be paired with their best-selling sukalami (super spicy vinegar) dip.
While lechon may be the star in Rico’s, the restaurant’s other offerings are also worth the taste. Their menu offers a wide range of traditional Filipino dishes with vegetables favorites like Gising-gising or Chop suey to heavy hits like Seafood Kare-kare, Sinigang na Baboy at Baka, Dinuguan, Sizzling Tanguigue, Cebuano Bam-I, and Chicken Inasal. They also serve a variety of dishes with lechon twists such as the Lechon Sisig and Lechon Humba. Best to pair these hearty entrées with the signature Fried Rice Trio flavored with three kinds of dried fishes—danggit, tuyo, and tinapa. For the perfect meal ender, have the Tapioca Pandan, a creamy and festive dessert that’s a sure crowd pleaser.
A loyal patron of Rico’s Lechon, Meat Concepts Corp. President George Pua is happy and proud to share the brand’s vision of opening more branches around Manila. “We want to be able to have Cebuanos take pride in sharing [Rico’s Lechon] with the rest of the country, and eventually the world,” Pua explains.
Can Rico’s Lechon conquer the world? Too early to tell, but right now, we’re ecstatic that the best of Cebu has finally arrived in Manila. “Da best gyud” indeed!
